Denyse is a former graphic designer and graduate of Rhode Island School of Design. She always enjoyed drawing letters, but her time at RISD – including a letter-cutting class with John Hegenauer – inspired a life-long love of typography. Her fellow student Tobias Frere-Jones encouraged Denyse to design Scamp, which was based on cut-paper posters she made to sell her scooter. Denyse loves to see Scamp in display sizes and knocked out of bright colors.
Today, Denyse is widely recognized for her impact in the modern quilt world. Renowned for her fresh, offbeat approach to design and color, Denyse has won acclaim from art, design and crafting fans. As author, fabric designer, and teacher – Denyse continues to inspire with her witty take on tradition.
