André joined Font Bureau in 2013 as editorial director, to develop print and digital marketing, promotions, and publications.
Born in Vicenza, Italy, André grew up as an Army brat. After changing schools nine times through twelve grades, he attended Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts. It was there, while pursuing a BFA in Writing, Literature, and Publishing, that he found his calling in typography. Naturally, he licensed his first fonts from Font Bureau.
After college, André designed magazines in Rockport, MA and New York, with experiences ranging from O, The Oprah Magazine to Nylon, from Amex custom publishing to Nick, Jr. In 2007 he returned to the Northwest where his family is based. He consulted on new publications and served as design director for City Arts and then Seattle Met. Leading redesigns and working closely with editorial departments has allowed him to home in on what he likes to do best: enhance readability.
André lives in Seattle with his wife, Goretti. He watches Jeopardy every night but only attempts the New York Times Crossword on Monday through Wednesday. He is also an adjunct professor at Cornish College of the Arts, where he teaches Publishing Design.
