Miller Headline

8 Styles

In 1997, Font Bureau released Matthew Carter’s Miller Text and Display, reviving typefaces cut in the early 19th century by Richard Austin in London for foundries in Glasgow — some of the first typefaces designed with newspapers in mind. The revival’s immediate popularity with newspapers lead to narrower custom headline styles for papers including the Boston Globe, organized by Carter & Cyrus Highsmith as Miller Headline; FB 1997–2002
