New Release

Prensa Display

For many of our fonts originally designed for text use, once their popularity grows, then creating a display version to accompany them is almost inevitable. Prensa has been no exception. What makes Prensa lively and energetic at text sizes naturally also makes for a distinctive and eye-catching Prensa Display.

Drawing these companion styles, Cyrus Highsmith continued his approach of deliberately creating tension by wrapping outside curves around the inside, a technique inspired by the work of W. A. Dwiggins. Originally developed for custom newspaper clients, the Prensa Display family has now been expanded and made available for Retail license and download.

The versatility of Prensa Display is further enhanced by the inclusion of Condensed and Compressed widths. These are more compact and allow for even more impactful, dense settings in headlines. Prensa Display is also built up to full Premium standard, which means integrated small caps and both figure sets, case punctuation (very nice for display use), all the superior/inferior/fractions goodness, and an extended character set and language support.

With all this going for it, Prensa Display is sure to make powerful headlines.

36 Styles: Light, Book, Regular, Semibold, Bold, and Black, All with small caps and corresponding Italics in Normal, Condensed, and Compressed widths.

Prensa Display is available as premium OpenType font with a full set of professional OT layout features and extended language support. Fonts are also available in legacy Postscript format with limited character sets.

Still Running Strong

Back in 2008 when Runner’s World embarked on their redesign, they chose Stainless, Dispatch, and Proforma throughout the magazine. They also commissioned Cyrus Highsmith to update their logo and design a stencil version of Stainless for use in key spots throughout the magazine. We’ve just created a new gallery to show it all off. At a time when magazines are undergoing redesigns every couple of years, Font Bureau fonts are still running strong, three years later. We’d call that a winner.
