19th Century Beginnings

The original Railroad Gothic was a single heavy weight of condensed nineteenth century capitals and figures, straight-sided, which ATF released in the first years of the twentieth century. The anonymous design has long been a workhorse for newspaper headlines. Berlow designed a lowercase, introducing the subtle curves that create the coherence and quality of the complete series.
