In 1997, Font Bureau released Matthew Carter’s Miller Text and Display, reviving typefaces cut in the early 19th century by Richard Austin in London for foundries in Glasgow — some of the first typefaces designed with newspapers in mind. The revival’s immediate popularity with newspapers lead to narrower custom headline styles for papers including the Boston Globe, organized by Carter and Cyrus Highsmith as Miller Headline; FB 1997–2002

Miller Headline is part of the Font Bureau Readability Series, and is not available for purchase via our website. Please email us with your inquiry. For a pricelist, please see our Readability Pricing (PDF file).

Among other uses, Miller Headline is recommended for Newspaper and Magazine use.
