Displaybaum was drawn as a headletter companion to Matthew Carter’s Newsbaum and Wiredbaum. All three faces derive from early seventeenth century work of J.E. Walbaum, punchcutter and typefounder at Goslar, then Weimar. Walbaum is said to have taught himself punchcutting, adding a more subtle and human touch to the rational designs of the Didots in Paris, models he chose over the types that Bodoni had cut in Parma; FB 2007

Among other uses, Displaybaum is recommended for Newspaper, Custom and Upcoming use.
